Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month Deliciously: Enchiladas Three Ways
Hispanic Heritage Month is more than a celebration; it’s a time for the Hispanic community to come together. It’s a chance to embrace our culture, honor our heritage and share what we’ve accomplished over the years as a collective.
From September 15 to October 15 we appreciate and celebrate the colorful cultures, rich histories, and diversity of 21 Spanish-speaking countries and territories. We also recognize how the Hispanic community has been essential to the prosperity of the U.S. with our countless contributions reflecting the embodiment of American values.
Originally started as a one-week celebration in 1968, it’s appreciation has grown along with the Latino community. This led to a whole month of celebration that begins on September 15 with the Independence Day anniversary of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Next is Mexico’s Independence anniversary on September 16, and Chile’s Independence Day on September 18. And finally, concluding with Día de la Raza on October 12.
These four weeks are historically celebrated with concerts, parades, food fairs, and educational events like art exhibitions. All of which highlight important Latino heroes and figures in our history.
For us at Cacique, it’s important because it reflects what we as a family company believe in. Celebrating our commitment to providing authentic Mexican flavors with experiences rooted in our heritage and traditions. From sharing dips and salsas, to cooking a whole feast for our neighbors. Our products are meant to bring everyone together, while inspiring each other at the same time. We envision whole families and communities breaking bread together at a sobremesa (its literal meaning is over the table or table talk, but in Spanish it’s used to refer to the period after a meal when you chat with friends or family and enjoy each other’s company) enjoying true authenticity.
You can celebrate HHM in many different ways like: learning more about its history (good job! You’re doing that now!), supporting Hispanic owned businesses, or trying one of these three auténtico and delicious enchilada recipes. Your Hispanic Heritage Celebration awaits!
